Update: Sidewalk Restoration Work at Avenue Station - Ongoing through early January 2023

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews at Avenue Station will continue sidewalk restoration work on the north side of Eglinton Avenue, between Avenue Road and Oriole Parkway through early January 2023. To facilitate this work, pedestrians will be rerouted south around the area where the new sidewalk is being built. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained via temporary ramps and walkways. This work is expected to take place between 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Simultaneously, crews will perform traffic signal and street light installation works at the north-east corner of the Avenue-Eglinton intersection. This work will begin as early as Wednesday, January 3, 2022, and will take approximately two (2) weeks to complete. Pedestrians will be rerouted west around the work zone. The sidewalk will be restored once the installation works are completed.

What to Expect

Temporary pedestrian rerouting will be in effect. Noise from construction equipment including jackhammers, concrete trucks, lifts, and hammers can be expected. Fencing, barriers, and filter cloth will be in place to delineate work zones. Advance signage will be installed to direct pedestrians around the closure. The existing sidewalk will be removed, and a new sidewalk will be constructed. Once this work is completed, the sidewalk will reopen. Traffic signal and streetlight installation works will take place at the north-east corner of the intersection.
