What Work is Taking Place?
Disassembly and removal of the overhead gantry crane is complete at Oakwood Station. Completion of this work allows crews to begin removing the gantry crane footings from the station's Main Entrance site.
Using a wire saw, crews will cut out pieces of the gantry crane footings. Occasionally, use of a jackhammer will be required to break away hardened material and concrete. The removed crane footings and materials will be loaded into dump trucks and hauled from the Main Entrance to an off-site facility. Removal of the gantry crane footings is expected to resume Saturday December 19, 2020 for approximately two (2) weeks. This work is expected to take place Monday to Saturday between 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.
During these works, nearby properties may experience noise and/or vibration. Crews will endeavor to complete these works during the day, however, to ensure the site remains in a safe state, occasional overnight work may be required. This work is not expected to be performed daily, only when required.
What to Expect
Noise and/or vibration from jackhammering and concrete removal can be expected. Short-term traffic interruptions can be expected, while trucks enter and exit the work zones. Expect delays while travelling through the intersection. Noise from construction activities, including truck traffic, crane movements and material loading, can be expected.
