What Work is Taking Place?

Overnight working hours began at the main entrance on September 30, 2020. It has now been extended through to December 18, 2020. Permanent works at the Main Entrance will take place 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday. The current extended hours (6:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m.) at both entrance shafts and in the tunnels, will continue through to the end of the year.

Formwork and backfill activities will take place in the overnight period at the main entrance. The crane may be operational at the main entrance to accommodate construction activities between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Concrete works may take place between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m.

What to Expect

Occasional overnight noise from construction equipment, including trucks and machinery can be expected. Site lighting is required and will be positioned away from residential properties. Truck entry and egress from the site can be expected, as well as staging within the work zones. Crews will endeavor to minimize disruption as much as possible.  

TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

  • There will be no changes to the current traffic configuration and will remain in place through to the end of 2020.
  • There will be no changes to the current pedestrian routes. 

TRANSIT INFORMATION

  • There will be no changes to the current TTC routes and stop locations.

HOURS OF WORK 

  • Construction at the main entrance will take place 24 hours a day Monday to Friday through to December 18, 2020.
  • Construction activities at the both entrance shafts and tunnels will take place between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., Monday to Saturday, through to the end of the year.
    • Work may occasionally take place on Sundays as required.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
