WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

As part of continued wet utility relocations, road widening and road reconstruction, access to Jonesville Crescent on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East will be closed starting as early as Monday, September 23, 2019. This traffic configuration will be in place for up to four (4) weeks.

All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the centre of Eglinton Avenue East.

TIMING

  • Work will begin as early as September 23, 2019 and continue for up to four (4) weeks
  • Work is expected to occur from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Road widening activities include: wet utility relocation, saw cutting, concrete removals, excavation, road reconstruction, curb reconstruction and asphalting.
  • Due to the nature of this work, at times there will be noise and vibration around the work area.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

  • There will be no vehicular access between Eglinton Avenue East and Jonesville Crescent on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East.
  • A minimum of two through lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained.
  • Construction zones may require adjustments once implemented – updated notices will be distributed in the case of any changes.

PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • A pedestrian walkway is available on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East is available between Bermondsey Road and Victoria Park Avenue.  
  • Pedestrian rerouting around work zones is done to protect the safety of pedestrians. Detours will be clearly marked with signage to direct pedestrians to the alternate routes.

TTC IMPACTS

  • The eastbound bus stop, east of Jonesville, will be reinstated.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses, respectively, are done in consultation with the TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
