WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

In support of construction of the future Eglinton Crosstown LRT stops and guideway (dedicated transit lane), crews will be relocating telecommunications infrastructure on Victoria Park Avenue at Eglinton Avenue East. The work will be completed in two (2) stages (depicted below), beginning as early as April 22, 2019 and continue for approximately one (1) week.  

 

TIMING 

  • Work will begin as early as April 22, 2019 and continue for approximately one (1) week. 
  • This work may take place between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

 

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

  • Northbound and southbound lane reductions will be required on Victoria Park Avenue with a minimum of one through lane of traffic in each direction maintained.
  • There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and/or a traffic protection barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

 

TTC IMPACTS 

Wayfinding signage will be installed directing transit users to the available bus stops. 

STAGE 1 

  • Southbound bus stop #8453 at the north-west corner of the intersection will be relocated farther north by approximately 70 meters. 
  • Northbound bus stop #6153 south of the intersection will be temporarily closed. Passengers who are traveling northbound or transferring at the intersection can use northbound bus stop #6152 located north of the intersection.

 

STAGE 2

  • Southbound bus stop #8453 at the north-west corner of the intersection will be relocated to the south side of the intersection.
  • Northbound bus stop #6152 north of Intersection will be temporarily closed. Passengers who are traveling northbound or transferring at the intersection can use northbound bus stop #6153 located south of the intersection.

 

 PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • The south east-west crosswalk at the intersection will be closed due to close proximity with the work zone. 
  • Wayfinding signage will be installed at both sides of closed crosswalk.
