What Work is Taking Place?

As part of road widening and reconstruction activities, crews will be rebuilding the North West corner at Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East. Construction activities include: excavation, compaction, concrete pours and paving. To complete this work a six-week (6) closure of the southbound right turn lane on Victoria Park Avenue will be implemented as early as July 24th, 2019 (depicted below). Pedestrians will be detoured around the worksite. 
On Friday, August 30th, 2019 asphalting will begin at 5:00 a.m on the North West corner of the intersection to accommodate the final curb works. 

All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the center of Eglinton Avenue East.

Hours of Work
  • Work will begin as early as July 24, 2019 and will continue for up to five six (6) weeks
  • Work is expected to occur from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Impacts
  • A  six (6) week closure of the southbound right turn lane on Victoria Park Avenue at Eglinton Avenue East. 
  • Construction zones may require adjustments once implemented – updated notices will be distributed in the case of any changes.

Pedestrian Impacts
  • A pedestrian detour will be available on west side of Victoria Park Avenue, north of Eglinton Avenue East. 
  • Pedestrian rerouting around work zones is done to protect the safety of pedestrians. Detours will be clearly marked with signage to direct pedestrians to the alternate routes.
TTC Impacts
  • Eastbound and westbound stops will be maintained on Eglinton Avenue east of Victoria Park.  
  • The southbound stop north of Eglinton Avenue east will be relocated south of the intersection.
