RETAINING WALL CONSTRUCTION:
EGLINTON AVENUE EAST AT SADDLE RIDGE DRIVE
What Work is Taking Place?
To accommodate continued road reconstruction and widening along Eglinton Avenue East, a retaining wall will be constructed on Eglinton Avenue East at Saddle Ridge Drive, on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East. The retaining wall will hold and stabilize the embankment created from the newly widened road.
Hours of Work
- Work began mid-August 15, 2019 and continued to early October, 2019.
- Upon completion of road widening in the area, construction on the retaining wall will resume early November, 2019 and continue for an additional two weeks.
- Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, effort will be made to provide reasonable notice.
What to Expect
- Preparatory work includes sediment and erosion control measures and removal of existing infrastructure.
- Construction activities includes excavation, foundation preparation, hydrovacing, concrete works and backfill.
- Generators will be used when necessary to power equipment.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
- The pedestrian sidewalk will remain open on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East.
