What Work is Taking Place?
As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be installing the conduits for the permanent traffic signals at Eglinton Square. Starting as early as Wednesday, February 20, 2019 until Thursday, February 21, 2019. The work will taking place during the overnight period.
To facilitate this installation there will be a temporary diversion of east- west traffic to the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Victoria Park and Pharmacy Avenue.
Hours of Work
- Work is expected to begin as early as Wednesday, February 20, 2019.
- Work is expected to take approximately one (1) night to complete.
- Permitted construction hours are 8:00 pm to 6:00 am
- Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.
What to Expect
- East- west traffic will be shifted to the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.
- Access to Eglinton Square will be restricted.
- Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.
- Paid duty officers will be available to direct traffic.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
- One lane of traffic in each direction.
- Traffic will be shifted north along Eglinton Avenue East between Victoria Park Avenue and Pharmacy Avenue.
- No traffic will be permitted from Eglinton Avenue East to Eglinton Square.
- Access to Eglinton Square is restricted between Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East except access the to the mall driveway.
- Paid duty officers will be available to direct traffic.
- North-south crosswalk closed at Eglinton Avenue East and Eglinton Square intersection.
- Pedestrians will be redirected to the crosswalks at Victoria Park Avenue or Pharmacy Avenue.
TTC Impacts
- The eastbound bus stop on the east of Eglinton Avenue East will be relocated to the west of the intersection.
- Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
