Overnight Generators at Laird Station 

Beginning February 15th, crews will be relocating overhead power lines on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Laird Drive. This work requires a hydro outage at the Laird Station construction site for approximately two (2) days.  While no major operations will take place within the Laird construction zone, generators will be running to maintain power to critical equipment for the duration of the outage.

No other addresses will be affected by this hydro outage.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Relocation of power lines on Eglinton Avenue East will require a two (2) day hydro outage at Laird Station.
  • Laird Station will be running generators at the Main and Secondary entrances to maintain power to critical equipment for the duration of the outage.
  • Crews will endeavor to minimize the disruption of the alternative power source using sound barriers.  

HOURS OF WORK

  • Generators will be utilized beginning at 7:00a.m. on Saturday, February 15 through to 7:00a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2020.
  • Utility interruptions may be longer or shorter than expected
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Travelling Smart during Construction

 Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
