New Traffic Configuration:

Eglinton Avenue East between Jonesville Crescent and Victoria Park Avenue

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

As part of utility relocations, road widening and road reconstruction along Eglinton Avenue East between Jonesville Crescent and Victoria Park Avenue, lanes will be realigned as early as August 20, 2019 (depicted below). This traffic configuration will be in place for up to four (4) weeks.

All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the centre of Eglinton Avenue East

 TIMING

  • Work will begin as early as August 20, 2019 and continue for up to four (4) weeks
  • Work is expected to occur from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

  • Lane closures are required to safely conduct this work.
  • A minimum of one two through lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained.
  • Construction zones may require adjustments once implemented – updated notices will be distributed in the case of any changes.

PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • The sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East is available between Bermondsey Road and Victoria Park Avenue.  
  • Pedestrian rerouting around work zones is done to protect the safety of pedestrians. Detours will be clearly marked with signage to direct pedestrians to the alternate routes.

TTC IMPACTS

  • The westbound bus stop at Jonesville Crescent will be shifted slightly west, away from the work zone.
  • The westbound bus stop west of Victoria Park Avenue will remain closed. A westbound stop is available east of the intersection.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with the TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
