Sewer Re-lining Works at Laird Station

Sewer re-lining is a process intended to increase the durability of the sewers.  At Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue East, local sewers will be re-lined in the vicinity of the construction sites. 

The liner is a flexible membrane that is placed inside the sewers. Lining is designed to be generally non-disruptive and eliminates the need for excavation of the entire sewer section. The required activities take approximately three days for each sewer section.  Read more »

Update: Dewatering System at Laird Station

Re-Issue date: September 1, 2017

The term “dewatering” means pumping from the ground water at a site where there will be excavation.  At Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive, dozens of small wells will be drilled along the curbside eastbound lane. Wells will be drilled and shallow trenches will be required to lay the pipes, pumps, wells and valves to do the work.

Pedestrian Safety near Construction Sites

The tunnelled section between Brentcliffe Road and Black Creek Drive is complete, and last year, construction activities began at all 15 underground stations including Kennedy Station. The preparatory works at the at-grade portion of the line, between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Station, also started this summer. Since the end of school, many work zones have been set up for construction and some major intersections along Eglinton Avenue have changed.

Update: Overnight Watermain Investigations for Laird Station

What Work is Happening?

To prepare for upcoming mining works at Laird Station, a careful inspection of watermains in the area is required. 

Crews will complete water leakage detection for the watermains on Eglinton Avenue East between Sutherland Drive and Brentcliffe Road. The scope of work includes testing watermains and associated fittings on Eglinton and 10 meters north/south of Eglinton.  Read more »

Update: Gas Main Support at Laird Station

To prepare for upcoming mining operations at Laird Station, micro piles will be drilled to the north of the Laird Station Secondary entrance. Micro piles will support local gas mains during mining.
