The large tower crane that was recently removed from the Laird Main Entrance will now be replaced with a new crane. This work will take place for approximately 4 days between August 19th and August 22nd, 2019.
Throughout the 4 days of work there will be 2 to 3 one hour periods per day when Laird Drive will be fully closed between Parklea Drive and Eglinton Avenue E. This will occur during off-peak travel times. The sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton and the north/south crosswalk on the west side of Laird will also be closed during the one (1) hour periods. *An emergency lane for emergency vehicles and TTC buses only will be controlled by Paid Duty Officers during the full closure periods.
HOURS OF WORK
- Work will take approximately four (4) days.
- Work is planned for August 19 to 22.
- Work will occur between 7:00 am to 11:00 pm
- Work will occur outside of peak travel times, 9:00am-4:00pm and 7:00pm-11:00pm .
TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS
- Laird Drive from Eglinton Avenue to Parklea Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
- During up to one (1) hour periods, 2 to 3 times per day there will be a full road closure on of Laird Drive between Eglinton Avenue East and Parklea Avenue and the sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton and the north/south crosswalk on the west side of Laird will also be closed
- An emergency lane for emergency vehicles and TTC buses only will be controlled by Paid Duty Officers during the full closure periods.
- Existing pedestrian walkway closures at Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue East remain in place.
- Paid Duty Police Officers (PDO) and/or traffic control personnel will be present.
- There is no impact to existing TTC stops.
TRAVELLING SMART DURING CONSTRUCTION
- Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.
- Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction.
