Cancellation: Fire Hydrant Removal at Eglinton Avenue East and Donlea Drive - November 19 – November 20, 2020

What Work is Taking Place?

*This work has been CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE as of November 24th, 2020*

From November 19 – November 20, 2020, crews will work to remove an abandoned fire hydrant at the north-east corner of Eglinton Avenue East and Donlea Drive. This work is expected to take place from 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

To safely perform this work, crews will be required to temporarily occupy the westbound curb lane and north sidewalk on Eglinton Avenue East at Donlea Drive. A temporary pedestrian walkway will be created south of the work zone, to maintain pedestrian access through the area. 

The lane and sidewalk closure will remain in place on a 24-hours basis through Tuesday November 17 – Wednesday November 18, 2020. Crews will re-open the lane and the sidewalk once all works are complete. Traffic control personnel and/or a paid duty officer will be present, while this work takes place. Property access will be maintained during this work.  

What to Expect

Expect delays while travelling through the intersection. Noise from construction activities, including trucks and breaking of concrete, can be expected. Crews will endeavor to minimize disruption as much as possible. 

HOURS OF WORK

• November 19 – November 20, 2020 

• Work is expected to take place from 6:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; associated lane and sidewalk closures will remain in place through the overnight period.

• This work may be rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. 

TRAFFIC DETAILS 

• The westbound curb lane on Eglinton Avenue East will be closed at Donlea Drive, while this work takes place. 

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

• A temporary pedestrian walkway will be created south of the work zone, to maintain pedestrian access through the area.
