What Work is Taking Place?

As early as Monday, April 11, 2022, crews will begin watermain connection works on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Glassworks Drive. This work will take approximately eight (8) weeks to complete and will be carried out in four phases (refer to maps). Significant traffic and pedestrian changes will be in effect while this work takes place. For more information, please review the complete notice or visit www.thecrosstown.ca.

What to Expect

Construction activities will include the installation of a new watermain line and four fire hydrants. Work zones will be erected on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Glassworks Drive. Concrete barriers, fencing, and signage will be in place to delineate the work zones. Noise from construction activity including trucks, asphalt removals, and compacting can be expected. Expect delays while travelling through the intersection. Brentcliffe Road will be closed during phase four of the works - the road will reopen upon completion of the works.  

HOURS OF WORK

  • Starting as early as Monday, April 11, 2022
  • The entire duration of the works will be approximately eight (8) weeks; the duration of each phase is listed below:
    • Phase One: Two (2) weeks
    • Phase Two: Three (3) weeks
    • Phase Three: One (1) week
    • Phase four: Two (2) weeks
    • Construction activities are expected to take place between 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
    • This work may be rescheduled or delayed due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstan

 

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

  • During Phase One and Phase Two, the sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Ave E will be closed between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street. Pedestrians will be redirected to the north sidewalk.

  • During Phase Three, the sidewalk on the north side of Eglinton Ave E will be closed between Brentcliffe Road and Glassworks Drive. Pedestrians will be redirected to the south sidewalk.

  • During Phase Four, the sidewalk on the north side of Eglinton Ave E will remain closed between Brentcliffe Road and Glassworks Drive. The crosswalk on the east side of the Brentcliffe-Eglinton intersection will be closed.

 

TRAFFIC DETAILS

  • Phase One: Eastbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one lane between Brentcliffe Road and east of Glassworks Drive.
  • Phases Two and Three: Traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Brentcliffe Road and Glassworks Drive.
  • Phase Four: Brentcliffe Road will be closed at Eglinton Avenue East. Westbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one through-lane and one left-turn lane. Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane approaching Brentcliffe Road.
