Lane Reductions at Laird Station for Sub-Station Removals

What Work is Taking Place?

As early as Thursday, March 17, 2022, crews at Laird Station will be performing sub-station removals, which provided temporary power to the station, by the Main Entrance. To facilitate this work safely, lane reductions will be in place on Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive by the Main entrance. This work will take approximately two (2) days to complete and will be carried out in two phases (refer to maps). Please carefully read the details below.

  • Phase One:  Eastbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to two lanes west of the Main Entrance. Pedestrians will be safely rerouted around the work zone. The eastbound TTC bus stop located at the southwest corner will be temporarily relocated approximately 10-metres west.
  • Phase Two: Northbound and southbound traffic on Laird Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction south of Eglinton Avenue East.

What to Expect

Expect delayed while travelling through the area. Noise from construction activities can be expected. Traffic control personnel and/or a Paid Duty Officer will be present, for the duration of this work.

HOURS OF WORK

  • As early as Thursday, March 17, 2022, for approximately two (2) days; the duration of each phase is listed below.

-  Phase One: One (1) day

-  Phase Two: One (1) day

  • Construction activities are expected to take place on Monday – Friday between 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • This work may be rescheduled or delayed due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Work may be longer or shorter than expected.

TRAFFIC DETAILS

  • Phase One: Eastbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to two lanes west of the Main Entrance.
  • Phase Two: Northbound and southbound traffic on Laird Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction south of Eglinton Avenue East.

PEDESTRIAN DETAILS

  • Phase One: Pedestrians will be safely rerouted around the work zone.
  • Phase Two: No changes to the current pedestrian routes are expected as a result of this work

TRANSIT INFORMATION

  • Phase One: The eastbound TTC bus stop located on the southwest corner will be temporarily relocated approximately 10-metres west.
  • Phase Two: The eastbound TTC bus stop located on the southwest corner will be reinstated.
