Boulevard Restoration Works Eglinton Ave East North Side, Ionview Road to Kennedy Road - Extended to Late September

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will continue boulevard restoration works on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Ionview and Kennedy Road. Partial or full driveway closures will be required to perform grading works to align driveways with the new road surface on Eglinton Avenue East.  Driveways may be restricted partially or fully beginning July 6, 2020. This work has been extended through to late September 2020. 

Signage will be installed directing vehicles to available driveway access. 

Hours of Work 

• Work will continue through to late September 2020. 

• This work is permitted between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

• Crews will continue removing existing asphalt and curbs on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Ionview and Kennedy Road. 

• Boulevard restoration works include: 

o Removal of existing asphalt and curbs 

o Construction of new sidewalks and curbs 

o Driveway tie-ins to the newly widened road  

• Partial or full driveway closures of up to one week will be required to complete the work.

• Driveway closures will be alternating, and vehicular access will be maintained for the duration of the work. 

• Signage will be installed directing vehicles to available driveway access. 

• Excavators, dump trucks, concrete trucks and pumps, curb machine and road rollers may be required onsite for these activities.

• Noise from construction equipment and crews can be expected, site lighting may be required.

Traffic and Pedestrian Details

• The closure of the outer westbound lane will be maintained.

• Partial or full driveway closures of up to one week will be required on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East between Ionview and Kennedy Road.  

• There will be no changes to the existing pedestrian routes. 

TTC Details

• All temporary TTC bus stops will remain in their current locations.

• Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely, while minimizing impact on the community and customers.

Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
