Laird Station Construction Update

LAIRD STATION CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Concrete removals will occur at the main entrance between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. beginning as early as January 22 through to January 31, 2020.
• Rebar and formwork will continue at the main entrance through 2020.
• Excavation will begin at the secondary entrance as early as January 27 and continue for approximately two (2) weeks. Increased truck traffic can be expected for the first several days of these activities.
• Chipping of the mud slab at the secondary entrance will occur beginning the week of January 27 for approximately two (2) weeks. These activities will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
• Permanent works will continue inside the completed cavern through 2020. Waterproofing, concrete works, formwork and rebar installation is ongoing.
• Depending on the type of activity and the location of your property, certain construction works may be more noticeable than others. Noise and vibration levels are measured on a continuous basis to ensure all operations are completed within safe and allowable limits.

CURRENT TRAFFIC CONFIGURATION 

HOURS OF WORK  

• Construction activities at the main entrance may occur between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days a week. 
• Construction activities may occur at the secondary entrance on a 24-hour schedule., seven (7) days a week.
• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion. Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

• The current traffic configuration will remain in place through 2020. 
• Increased truck traffic travelling through the area can be expected.  
• Lane reductions may be required for concrete works and deliveries.

Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
